Protection policy for people in vulnerable situations
This policy is an instrument that aims to demonstrate OPAN’s commitment to protecting the vulnerable people affected by its activities.
As a starting point for the construction of this document, three major themes were chosen for institutional reflection. This selection was made taking into account OPAN’s internal context and the national and global contexts observed during the period. They are:
- Health and quarantine
- diversity of gender, race, sexual orientation, harassment (moral and sexual);
- misappropriation (biopiracy, cultural heritage and sensitive information of indigenous peoples)
Based on this internal reflection, there was a collective process of mapping the main risks related to each of the themes, as well as developing control and mitigation strategies.
Like OPAN itself, this policy is also constantly evolving and needs to be reformulated and adapted whenever there is a need to add coping strategies for new risks that may arise.
