OPAN

OPAN programs

OPAN's work is organized into three institutional programs: the Amazonas Program, the Mato Grosso Program and the Indigenous Rights, Indigenous Policy and Information to Society Program, which cuts across the other two.

Amazon Program

In the state of Amazonas, OPAN is currently working in the south of the state in partnership with the Paumari indigenous peoples of the Tapauá, Apurinã and Jamamadi rivers, in the Middle Purus river region; the Kawahiva in the Madeira river basin, and, in the southwest, with the Deni of the Xeruã river: in the Middle Juruá river basin.

Among the actions are support for socio-biodiversity value chains, surveillance and territorial protection actions and the strengthening of indigenous associations.

Indigenous Rights Program

With the aim of strengthening the defense of indigenous rights, OPAN inaugurated the Indigenous Rights, Indigenous Policy and Information to Society Program in 2013, which supports the participation and promotes the political articulation and mobilization of peoples in the face of threats to their constitutional rights.

The program aims to develop integrated actions at local, regional, national and international levels. It works in the context of the villages, addressing issues that are important to their physical, cultural and territorial sustainability.

Mato Grosso Program

OPAN works in Mato Grosso, in the north and northwest of the state, with the Apiaká, Nambikwara and other indigenous peoples of the Pirineus de Souza Indigenous Land, Manoki, Myky, Paresi and Rikbaktsa, and in the region of the Juruena river sub-basin.

In the east of the state, on the interfluve of the Xingu and Araguaia rivers, it works with the Xavante people of Marãiwatsédé.
