OPAN launches video of the Arapaima project

Next Tuesday, the 27th, the video “Arapaima: Productive Networks” will be released on the internet, carried out by Operação Amazônia Nativa (OPAN), with partners from indigenous and riverside associations. Produced over two years between the municipalities of Jutaí, Carauari and Manaus (AM) and Cuiabá (MT), the film presents the daily life of indigenous peoples and riverside communities and how they are strengthening from their social organization and the way they manage the lands in which they live.

Work is part of project which gives the film its name, made with the resources of the Amazon Fund, executed by Opan, an indigenous organization that turns 50 in 2019 and that supports peoples from the Middle Juruá River region and the Middle Rio Solimões for more than two decades.

Among the territorial management strategies of local residents is the sustainable management of arapaima and the extraction of copaiba oil with good extractive practices. activities articulated with other everyday tasks, such as handicrafts and swiddens.

“This work raises questions about the real value of the products of the sociobiodiversity chains. How much is a liter of copaiba, andiroba oil or a kilo of Amazon pirarucu worth?”, highlights screenwriter and director Fernanda Machado about the work. She mentioned that the video brings the challenges that people face in the development of actions, due to illegal activities that take place around the land, lack of investments and bureaucratic and logistical obstacles.

The filming was carried out with the OPAN team, together with the project activities, and with the support of the indigenous and extractive associations involved in the work.

Proteção sempre pautada pela saúde e para a vida das gerações futuras.“Mais do que documentar estes povos indígenas, o que mais me motiva e emociona nestes trabalhos são as relações humanas. Sentir a vida deles pulsando no meio da floresta, vivendo e mantendo seus valores e tradições ali, em sua terra; a forma como cuidam do próximo. É algo que traz para nosso íntimo a esperança no ser humano”, diz Adriano Gambarini, diretor de fotografia do vídeo.Além das imagens de Gambarini, o filme conta com o trabalho de Marco Sarti, da compositora Suelen Frazz, mixagem e masterização sonora de Telo Luciano da Estúdio Prómix e colorização de Duane Cartaxo. A edição foi feita pela diretora Fernanda Machado, da FGM Conteúdo, e por Vitor Nascimento.

O vídeo contou, ainda, com o apoio de tradutores indígenas e indigenistas: Pha’avi Hava Deni, Amavi Minu Deni, Misiha Bukure Deni, Mavarivi Bukure Deni, Umada Kuniva Deni, Kavarivi Minu Deni, Genoveva Amorim e Rosa Maria Monteiro.

O vídeo “Arapaima: redes produtivas” estará disponível no canal da OPAN no YouTube, além de ser divulgado por meio de redes sociais.
