The Juruena Vivo Festival, which had its origin between 2013 and 2014, reaches its tenth edition this year. The event, held by Rede Juruena Vivo, aims to bring together people who live, work and love the Juruena River Sub-Basin region.
The 10th Juruena Vivo Festival will be held in the Nova Munduruku village, Apiaká-Kayabi Indigenous Land, in the municipality of Juara/MT, from November 4th to 8th. With the theme “Connecting territories and adding struggles for good living”, the event is an invitation to everyone to unite in a celebration of the cultural and natural wealth, the resistance and the communities that make this region so special.
The theme emphasizes the importance of strengthening the bonds between the different areas and actors involved, promoting a collectivity vision in favor of the well-being and preservation of this unique territory, which is the Juruena River sub-basin.

The festival is a festive and reflective celebration, which incorporates elements of art, music and culture, valuing all regional diversity. In addition, it serves as a forum to discuss relevant topics of public interest.
Originated from a context of struggles for rights, especially in relation to rivers, land and water, the event emerged as a response to pressures to the sub-basin, led by the hydroelectric sector, mining and mining, activities that have been installed in the region without the due consultation with the populations
Faced with these threats, the festival was consolidated as a platform for claims and denunciations, as well as in an accessible and democratic space of rich informative and cultural exchanges.
Over the years, the Juruena Vivo Festival has become a moment of encounter between the party and the fight. With community fairs, intense discussions, it presents itself as a powerful reminder of the local wealth and diversity, and the consequent need to protect the region.
